Heat pumps and boilers
Heating and hot water with an air-to-water heat pump or a new boiler. We show you with figures which one pays off in your home, even if the answer is to keep the one you have.

What an air-to-water heat pump is
It's a heat pump that takes heat from the outside air, even at several degrees below zero, and passes it to the water for the heating and the hot taps. For every kWh of electricity it uses, it gives three to four of heat.
It works best with warm water, at 35 or 45 °C, rather than very hot water. That's why it's ideal with underfloor heating and works well with large or low-temperature radiators. With small cast-iron radiators, some may need changing.
If the house is poorly insulated or the radiators can't be changed, a new condensing boiler may be the better investment. We work it out from your bill for last winter.
- 1 Outdoor unit
- 2 Tank and hydraulic module
- 3 Radiators or underfloor heating
Which home is it right for?
What we usually recommend in the area. We confirm it with measurements on the visit.
House with underfloor heating
The ideal case. The heat pump runs at low temperature and uses as little as possible.
Full refurbishment or new house
Planned from the start, with underfloor heating and the hot water tank in the right place.
House with radiators and a heating-oil boiler
It usually pays off, but the radiators need checking. Some get swapped for bigger ones.
Flat in a block with no terrace
If there's no room for the outdoor unit or the residents' association won't allow it, a condensing boiler is better.

Frequently asked questions
Does a heat pump work in Huesca's frosts?
Yes. The units we fit work down to 20 °C below zero. In the cold they perform a little less, which is why we size them for January nights and not for the yearly average.
Can I have a heat pump with my radiators?
Often, yes. We measure each radiator and work out whether it gives the heat the room needs with water at 45 or 50 °C. If one falls short, that one gets changed, not all of them.
How much will I save compared with heating oil?
In the houses we've done in the area, between 40 and 60% of the heating bill, depending on the insulation and the price of electricity. We do the sums with your real bills, not with an average.
How often does the boiler need servicing?
The RITE requires regular maintenance according to the manufacturer's manual, and most household gas boilers ask for it every year or every two. We note it on the certificate and remind you when it's due.
And if it breaks down in the middle of winter?
In winter we also deal with heating breakdowns on Saturday mornings. With a maintenance plan, you get priority.
Shall we take a look at your home or your premises?
