For a small business, a website from a freelancer usually costs £800 to £2,500, and £1,500 to £4,500 from a small agency. The short answer

Small business website prices, side by side.

What you pay to get started is only half the story. Look at what comes after: hosting, the domain renewal and, above all, the changes. That’s where the cheapest option on day one often stops being the cheapest.

What you’re paying for

Five things make up the price of a website.

Every quote is a mix of the same parts. Check which ones are included before you compare two prices.

Design and build

The pages themselves: the layout, your text and photos, and making it work on phones. It’s the big one-off cost of a freelancer or an agency.

Domain name

Your address, such as yourbusiness.com. Usually somewhere between £5 and £20 a year, depending on the ending and the registrar.

Hosting

The server your website lives on, with its security certificate. Shared hosting for a small site costs a few pounds a month.

Changes and maintenance

New prices, opening hours, photos, updates. Often charged by the hour or through a monthly care plan, and the cost most people forget.

Your time

With a DIY builder the website is cheap, but every change is an evening of yours. That has a cost too.

What changes the price

Why one quote is £600 and the next is £4,000.

The number of pages matters less than you might think. What really moves the price is how much is made from scratch: a bespoke design costs more than a well-chosen template, and writing your text and sourcing photos takes time someone has to pay for.

Features add up quickly. Bookings, a members’ area or an online shop turn a brochure website into a small piece of software, and the price follows.

Then there’s who looks after it. A cheap website that you can’t change without paying each time can end up costing more than a dearer one with changes included. Ask what happens after launch before you compare totals.

Where neenot fits

One price a year, with your changes included.

We design your home page for free and send you a link to see it on a computer and on a phone. You only pay if you like it: €500 + VAT for the first year, with the website, hosting, every change and the domain, if it’s new.

After that it’s €200 + VAT a year. When something changes in your business, you message us on WhatsApp at +34 623 19 17 64 or email hola@neenot.com. We make the change the same day, send you a link to check it, and it goes live when you reply “OK”.

No monthly fees, no contract and no quote to wait for: the price is the same however many pages your website needs. We don’t build online shops or handle email, so if you need either of those, we’re not the right fit.

Questions to ask any web designer before you pay

  • Who owns the website and the domain if I leave?
  • What does a change cost, and how long does it take?
  • Are hosting and the domain included after the first year?
  • Is there a minimum term, and what happens if I stop paying?
  • Can I see the design before I pay for it?

FAQ

Website costs: what people ask

How much should a small business pay for a website?

For a simple brochure website, budgets of £500 to £1,500 are common, and a freelancer will usually quote £800 to £2,500. More than that buys a bespoke design, features such as bookings, or an agency. Whatever you pay upfront, add the cost of hosting and changes for the next few years.

How much does a one-page website cost?

Some pay monthly providers start at around £20 a month for a single page. With neenot the price doesn’t depend on the number of pages: €500 + VAT for the first year, whether your website has one page or twenty.

What’s included in the €200 + VAT a year?

Hosting, every change you ask for during the year, and the domain if we registered it for you. In short, your website kept up to date without you touching it.

Why are your prices in euros?

We’re based in Spain and charge in euros. When you pay by card, your bank converts the amount to pounds. Our prices exclude VAT, which is added where it applies.

Can I see the design before I pay?

Yes. We design your home page for free. If you want changes, each round costs €10 + VAT, is paid upfront and comes off the price if you go ahead. You can have up to 20 rounds.

Is there a contract? What if I want to leave?

There’s no minimum term. If you don’t renew, you take your whole website with you: we give you all its files, ready to put somewhere else, and your domain stays yours. What you’ve already paid is not refunded.
