What to do now

Before anything else, three things

Don't sign without reading

If you're handed a final settlement (finiquito), you can sign it and write “no conforme” (not in agreement) next to your signature. That way you get the money without giving up your right to claim.

Keep the letter

The dismissal letter, your contract, your payslips and any messages with the company. Take photos with your phone the same day, just in case.

Call us

Tell us about it in a free call. We'll tell you how long you have, what you're entitled to and whether it's worth going ahead. If it isn't, we'll tell you that too.

What has changed

Dismissals

If you are dismissed while on sick leave

Since Law 15/2022, illness counts as grounds for discrimination, and more and more courts are declaring these dismissals void. Void means the company has to take you back and pay your wages for the time in between. If this is you, call before the 20 days are up.

Incapacity

Permanent incapacity no longer means automatic dismissal

Under Law 2/2025, the company can't end your contract just because you've been granted permanent incapacity. It first has to try to adapt your job or move you to another one. You have ten days to ask for this.
